Description:   Spring crouching on erect forelegs, facing left with head turned out to viewer, its proper left. Muscular legs. Modelled of edge of rib cage from flatter belly. Wings have stepped feathers, making continuous curve to scalloped tips. Coverts reserved. Three holes in flight feathers, perhaps for struts. On inside, two solid clay cylindrical struts keep wings apart. Body parts highly polished.
Decoration:   Around neck is a band with a tooth pattern in black outline with red filler; thick black band below. On breast scales pointing downward, with black and reserved outlines, alternating black or red centers, arranged in diagonal rows of black, then red. Red fillet separates scales on shoulders from legs, and from wings. Flight feathers alternately black or red, with red at bottom feather, black for last. Insides of wings left unslipped, back between wings and left rough hollow.
Material:   Clay: core coarse with dense amount of fine black inclusions, fired pink; fine surface green-buff.
Condition:   Fragment. Main fragment: torso to base of neck, upper forelegs, parts of wings; missing head, lower legs, hindquarters. Incorporated into reconstruction is right forepaw and plinth.
Dimensions Restored:   H. to neck 0.40, H. to wing tip without plinth 0.627
