Description: | Sphinx, probably hind paw, resting flatly on plinth (missing). 4 toes well-modelled, with 2 central ones projecting higher and longer. Nails made by pinching clay, free of ball for central toes. Leg extends flatly back from paw, with ridges for toe bones. If lt. paw, better finished on outside, with 2 incised lines at base of short toe. Surface matt. Foot solid, chiefly coarse clay with thin fine surface slip. | |
