Description:   Two over life sized locks of hair aranged in vertical corkscrew curls. Incised lines define the curls. Deeper drilled lines break up the curls into segments. Between the curls ins a vertical element -- possibly drapery ? It is just possible that this fragment could be from a colossal cuirass statue.
Material:   marble
Condition:   Fragment. Broken all around; signs of burning; traces of red paint.
Dimensions Preserved:   ph 0.115, pw 0.08, pth 0.05
Period:   2nd c. A.C.
Findspot Description:   Found in the Museum sculpture apotheke in a box labeled "univentoried fragments of S 1436," a cuirass statue excavated at the Odeion in the curtain channel. Found with SUR 01-0015 and 01-0016. SUR 01-0015 is from Athena Trench; this one might be also.
