Description:   Lekythos with disk foot with tapering profile, groove at upper edge, fine resting surface, concave undersurface with central nipple. Narrow stem. Tall cylindrical body, flat shoulder rising up to inset neck; neck narrow, cylindrical, tall rim with flaring convex profile, broad flat lip. Vertical spined handle attached to shoulder and folded against neck.
Decoration:   Exterior of foot and undersurface reserved, lip reserved, remainder black glazed with red-figure decoration: body: narrow band of hook maeander at bottom and top of body; Nike striding rt., wings extended in back, arms extended forward, rt. hand seen from back and raised, lt. hand cupped below, no evidence of object held; to rt. low rectangular altar with projecting flat crown. Shoulder: 3 reserved 9-petal palmettes: 2 end ones have uniform petals, circumscribed, central one upside down, with long pointed central petal, framing scrolls ending in lotus buds at edge of shoulder; above, narrow band of egg-dart. Relief lines throughout. Probably by Painter of London E 342 (ARV p. 463).
