Description: | Lekythos with foot in two degrees, nippled depression on underside; narrow stem flaring to cylindrical body, low sloping shoulder, narrow neck, straight flaring rim, broad flat lip, vertical handle from shoulder to neck. | |
Decoration: | Undersurface and upper degree of foot reserved, lower degree, top of foot and lower body black glazed, added red line at edge of foot, 2 at top of glazed body, reserved and black glazed bands, red line on 2nd, reserved field: at lt., Herakles wrestling with bull, observed standing at rt. Branches in field; on them hung garment, fillet, bow and quiver. Red for fillet, garments, quiver, neck stripes of bull; white for fruit on branches, horn, tail and flank patches of bull, 2 lines across shoulder of Herakles. Shoulder and neck slipped cream, with 2 rows of rays on shoulder; rim black glazed, lip red, handle back black. By Haimon Ptr. or manner of. | |
