Description:   Amphora with flaring ring foot, flat resting surface, convex undersurface. Plump ovoid body with max. diam. at ca. 00.10, curving into rounded shoulder, cylindrical neck D00.055, flaring out, then up vertically to tall rim H00.024 with slight convex profile, rounded lip. Two vertical handles, round in section, attached to shoulder, top of neck. For lid, see B.
Decoration:   Glaze brown-black. Foot glazed with R-W-R lines, interior foot glazed, undersurface reserved with 2 concentric glaze rings. Body: narrow band of rays, with vertical zigzag and line interrupting ring; broad glaze band with R-W lines at bottom, top. Animal frieze on upper half body and shoulder: A: 2 confronting cocks, lt.: plain neck with purple dots, incised zigzag on wing bar; rt. same with incised scales on neck; between them double palmette; B: elaborate quadruple lotus with detached "cones" in angles. Incised filling ornament, 2 rossettes by handle. Neck: vertical zigzags. Rim: stripe at base, broad glazed band.Interior, glaze band with purple stripes on interior rim, top of neck.
