Front half of leg either made in an open mould or, less likely, modelled free-hand with inner surface carefully smoothed. Back half of leg applied by means of overlapping wads. Chiefly in back half of leg but also a few in front, are series of small holes, Diam. 0.003-0.0035 going through thickness of wall. Do not in all cases completely pierce wall, do not pass through complete width of leg. Holes made before final surface of clay applied (this Th. Ca. 0.001), for joining fragment of calf shows on inside surface 6 holes, all of which plugged up at surface except for one.
