Description:   Pyxis with low flaring ring foot, flat resting surface, flat undersurface. Ovoid body with max. diam. ca. at H. 0.120; at top of shoulder horizontal ledge or flange for lid recessed slightly from surface, W. 0.017, with squared lip. Two horizontal handles round in section, set vertically on shoulder. A pair of holes, D. 0.005, through ledge on either side on axis of handles; between one pair a scratched setting mark.
Decoration:   Interior of foot, undersurface reserved. Foot and body glazed in crackled brown-black glaze to H. 0.125. Reserved panel in handle zone to H. 0.175: 3 hooks of hook maeander, hatched, with framing line below and above. Remainder of pyxis glaxed except for ledge, underside of handles and area between handle roots. Thin wash on interior.
Material:   Fine light gray-green clay with rare, tiny red, black inclusions.

Condition:   Complete profile. Many joining frgts., complete except for small hole in bottom, three holes in shoulder, small part of rim; both handles preserved; g;aze worn. RIP.
