Title:   LATE HELLADIC III STIRRUP JAR

Description:   Stirrup jar with flat bottom, narrow stem curving into tall ovoid body, max. diam. at ca. H00.205, rounded shoulder, narrow neck contracting to flat stopper D00.080 which extends beyond neck to abutspout. Large spout rising vertically from shoulderbeside neck with torus rim. Two vertical straphandles attached to mid shoulder and stopper.
Decoration:   Two black to red glazed bands on stem. 3 red-blackbands at max. diam., 3 on shoulder at base of spout,in shoulder zone opposite spout pair of upside down 3-petal flowers. Black spiral band on stopper top, circle around base and top of spout, half-flowers flanking spout. Horizontal bars on handle backs.
Material:   Coarse tan clay with frequent fine black inclusions.
Munsell Color:   Yellower than 7.5YR 7/4
Condition:   Complete profile. Numerous joining frgts., complete profile, both handles and spout; missing small hole in bottom, small holes in lower body, ca. 1/10 body, small part of shoulder to lt. of spout.
