Description:   Coarse ware (class D) according to Blegen (Zygouries). Pithos. Stands on very small base. Four large bosses, approximately evenly spaced interrupt a lower rope band and the appearance of this arrangement supports the explanation suggested for the purpose of the bosses in entry for Z575.
Decoration:   The upper part of the vessel is decorated with two plastic horizontal bands which bear slanting impressions of a thumb or of a blunt instrument made in such a way as to give the effect of the twisted strands of a rope. Thin black glaze with reddish mottling here and there. Pain t badly cracked and worn.
Material:   Brick-red clay, gray at core
