Description: | Small jug of matt-painted ware, Class 1 (Blegen). Almost a bottle in shape. Stands on a flat bottom, with rounded body, high cylindrical neck, and a splaying rim. One fairly broad flat vertical handle grooved on its upper side. The flat bottom is not true, and the jug stands at an oblique angle. | |
Decoration: | Matt-painted decoration consists of two parallel bands along the body (at max diameter) and lower neck. In this zone a figure, done in broad ribbon lines and composed of a much simplified pair of connected spirals, is three times repeated. A broad band of paint along the outside of the rim and two lines down the top of the handle complete the decoration. Very worn. | |
