Description:   Stone pestle. Cylindrical. Slightly tapered at ends, but little to no tapering toward middle. Nearly flat ends. Nearly circular in section. Blegen identifies these as characteristic household implements throughout the Early Helladic period, with examples from Korakou, Gonia, Yiriza in the Corinthia, as well as Tomb 338 at Chalandriane on Syra in the Cyclades. Material appears to be selected for its color or veining. Though the shape is similar to that of teracotta spools, these are more likely to be pestles, perhaps for powdering colors in small palettes (Blegen 1928, p. 197-198).
