Abstract:   1. Black Corinth grape vines at Davis and Madera, California, were sprayed with benzothiazol-2-oxyacetic acid at concentrations varying from 5 to 100 p.p.m. The use of this growth-regulator at 20 p.p.m. resulted in the largest berries at each location in the treatments with this compound, but the weight of crop and individual berries was usually only about half that of fruit from girdled vines or from vines sprayed with 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid. The use of benzothiazol-2-oxyacetic acid usually retarded coloring. 2. Clusters dipped in benzothiazol-2-oxyacetic acid at 20 p.p.m. at full bloom, or 4, 10, or 18 days later, all developed small berries of about the same size. 3. Clusters were treated with benzothiazol-2-oxyacetic and 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid, separately and combined. Combined treatment usually resulted in clusters about like those treated only with 4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid, although some clusters contained a few small berries like those resulting from treatment with benzothiazol-2-oxyacetic acid.
