Continued digging tomb.
In several of the niches we find fragments of the covers of the pots which still remain in the niches.
In east niche of back, in the pot, we found [L-3492] a Type XXVIII lamp. This was probably brought and left by the tomb robbers, and so given, [illegible] their date. The tomb was evidently robbed in the 4th or 5th AD. It was evident;y built in the late or early 2nd c. AD (see lamps on following pages). The robbers came in, smashed all the lids of the pots in the niches, threw two skeletons out of the sarcophagus, and threw figurines, etc., [page 065] around. Then left and eventually, much later, the roof fell in. Notes on construction:The roof is not a true vault but is made on concrete laid in a form made of boards. The sarcophagus is one piece, of limestone, with stucco on the top and outside. A block found in the tomb, of limestone, probably was part of the cover. See drawing by architect. The floor is simply of dirt.
Depth of sarcophagus (interior): 0.375m
2 baskets sherds
The lamps found in the tomb which date from the period of construction or some after, are:
L-3489, Type XVI
L-3490, Type XXVII
L-3491, Type XXVII
[The latter two] each bearing [page 067] on the bottom the signature:
OKTABIO
Y
and each having a design of vines in relief about the rim, though the designs are not identical. In additoin to the figure identified on p. 63, another (MF-7426), representing a standing draped figure was found. Only the bottom of the figure, one one [band?], and the high base on which it stans was preserved. Also a fragment of a terracotta wheel (MF-8068) and a head of Eros (MF-7427) with wing attached.
