Notes: | In S at 3.05 is a pavement a layer of loose rough stones 0.15-0.20 thick. We are removing these to dig deeper. S XIII 3.00-3.45. Urfirnis and coarse sherds. One bit of poor incised. [NB 81 p. viiii] S XIII 3.00-3.45 Coarse ware plain undec nondescript 8 sherds. Mostly local green. Somewhat polished 1 sherd. Apparently with a wash of applied white 1 sherd. Plain buff 22 sherds chiefly from bowls. Some of these sherds are of very fine fabric and highly burnished. Urfirnis (a) black wash 18 sherds (b) black glaze 7 sherds (c) red wash or glaze 8 sherds (d) decorated type 2 sherds (1) black on buff - a handle. (2) red on buff (polished) also a handle (looks as if it belongs to same pot represented in S X?) | |
