Stratum: | East wall trench | |
Notes: | We continued the trench of the east wall and 85 cm from the end of said wall found a wall running east and west. We have a boy cleaning potsherds and as soon as he has washed a ζεμπίλι full we, Blegen and I look then over and preserve those which look interesting. The greater part we throw away. The east wall proved to be so long that I divided it roughly into 3 sections, namely northern part, middle and southern. A great deal of Minyan ware and Mattmalerei was found in this east wall. It may be a Minyan house. [NB 84, p.8 written by CWB] Scott’s section. Scott has been following out a series of walls all day to the east of Megaron House L and quite far down the slope. Along his east wall (LE east wall) his men have gathered a great quantity of Minyan ware and Mattmalerei. It looks to me as if this wall forms surely part of a Minyan house. The wall is rather narrower than the LM III walls higher up on the hill. Some Urfirnis also appears. I noticed one piece - white on black like the Hagia Marina kind.
