Stratum:   Fill of water pipe trench N of the amphora.
Notes:   The matrix of this basket is sandy silt brown, compact with 5% pebbles. B53 is the exploration of the N part of the water pipe as it extends out of the amphora. It has been uncovered to its full extent all the way to the N baulk. The first segment of it that is attached directly into the amphora is of a smaller diameter while the rest seem to be the same diameter like the ones to the S of the amphora. Due to the fact that there is no hole on the S side of the amphora it is assumed that the water pipe was connectedthe entire way with no amphora in place in its original use. Then at some point it went out of use on the S end and the amphora was placed in the pit with another segment of water pipe of smaller diameter for some different use. The difference between the ends of the thicker diameter water pipe (ca. 0.44 m ea) and the the above is what led us to this hypothesis.
