Stratum: | fill above wall (poss. Robbing trench), light brownish brown, very soft, 10% fine-coarse pebbles, poorly sorted fine sand
Notes: | B53 is for the cleaning of the partially exposed N-S wall and for further small picking to reveal the remaining unexposed portions at the N and S ends. The earth continues to be relatively soft, and is likely a robbing trench. A number of additional small (.15 - .20) stones beloning to the wall have become visible at its S end. At the N end, a large worked block (upon which several of the small wall stones sit) .70 - .90 m. S of the trench's N scarp and with an E-W alignment has been exposed; this block runs into both the W scarp and to the E beneath the bottom of B42. The large block at the wall's N end is plastered on its short N side and so far looks identical in all respects to the block W of the pipe upon which the block with the chiseled corner rests.
