Stratum:   Probable working surface/floor for walls 290, 291, and 294. Semi compacted sandy silt with patches of light yellow clayand small pebbles, some (<5%) lime, charcoal bits.
Notes:   With the basket we are taking out a thin lens of lightly compacted fill with pale tan clay in it. It seems to be a construction floor at ca. 91,09-91,12 elevation. It immediately peels off to reveal a reddish loose fill with building debris (rubble, mud-brick fragments). It runs up against the stone console to the east and over the ashy area on the N scarp to the west, and it breaks off over a more compacted surface in the SW, which appears to be the same floor. Because it is more compact, we are taking it in a separate basket (49).
