Corinth Basket: NB983 B43 P96 Collection: | | Corinth | Type: | | Basket | Name: | | NB983 B43 P96 | Area: | | Panaghia north | Category: | | Basket/zembil | Notebook: | | 983 | Context: | | 43 | Page: | | 96 | Date: | | 2006/06/20 | Stratum: | | Possible foundation trench | Notes: | | The matrix of this basket is dark brown sandy silt, loose, with rare inclusions. B43 is a possible foundation trench for the two blocks. The soil that extends for ca. 0.2 meters to the W of the blocks is much softer until it changes into a more compacted layer. After excavating in that area it is evident that the soft soil goes under a harder layer further to the N and to the W of the blocks at ca. 971.5 N. It is therefore decided to stop this basket and proceed into removing the redder soi to the W that seems to be overlying the harder soil with the charcoal inclusions to the N of the hypothetical foundation trench. This will allow us to return in this area and excavate the continuation of the soft soil that could potentially be the foundation trench of the two blocks. | Context Pottery: | | Coarseware. mwj bs 1; Fineware.
