Title:   Room 7 - Ashy Fill West of Structure 96
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1111
Context:   101
Date:   2016/06/10
Stratum:   ~40% small rocks (~0.05 x 0.05 x 0.02) particularly to the west; small amount of tile and pottery, perhaps ~5%; less than 5% bone; clay inclusions
Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:   When we closed Context 89, it was largely due to a change in soil noted in the southwest corner of the room, and it was suggested that this are might be a pit. But there was no clear boundary of a cut detected, so this hypothesis was abandoned. The soil to the north and east was harder and clayer-er, and only a few centimeters down the soil became slightlyh harder, and so this context was closed at that point. It was noted, however, that the soil east of the hearth was very similar, so it is possible that these contexts (the eastern area was dug next as context 106) form part of the same deposit, perhaps cut by the harder clay dividing them. There was relatively little pottery from this context and only a single piece of glass.
