Context:   1016

Date:   2013/04/10
Stratum:   15%; ceramic sherds, fine and medium pebbles
Description:   Top slope of the context is level down to the NE. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context is a continuation of the removal of the baulk south of cut 871, and is a part of our attempt ti understand the exterior of the Turkish house to the north. We also hope to be able to relate this area to the baulk north of the pit, excavated in 1004, 1005, 1010, 1011, 1012, and 1013.
The soil has relatively few inclusions, but did produce some pottery. We ended this fairly shallow context upon reaching a more firmly packed layer below. We will continue investigating baulk in the next context, 1017.
