Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. Bottom slope of the context is uneven down to the The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This basket is removing a circular feature, probably a pit. It is bounded by the baulk wall to the south and a possible rubble wall to the west. It seems to have cut the clay floor to the north and east. Part of the clay floor has appeared in the NE corner of the pit. It may be the layer on the surface currently or another lower floor. Before we dug this basket, we cleaned the baulk wall of large roots so the soil would not contaminate the basket. Roots continue to thread through the south side of the pit/basket. The possible wall to the west was first revealed in B 145 and is now appearing on the plan. A hard surface appeared at the bottom of the pit ending this basket.
