Description:   Top slope of the context is level. Bottom slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy clay.
Notes:   B 222 is removing the remainder of the soil in the cut of the wall for the apse. Most likely this was here because the stones were robbed out at a lower level here than in the rest of the wall. This spot is in the north edge of the apse and includes a higher levelling course which we are cleaning but not removing.
Again the men are exposing lower levels of the wall as they dig down into the cut.
The soil here must be from an episode when a number of courses of this wall were robbed out.
