Description:   Top slope of the context is level. Bottom slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark reddish white. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy clay.
Notes:   B 224 is removing a small but thick patch of clay soil that runs along the N-S wall which makes up the east side of the building with an apse. It most likely sits on top of the black/grey ashy layer that we found under B 223. We are not certain how far south it extends since there are more pebbles further south but it should become clear where this layer ends. We have found a distinct pebbly layer below this clay which extends further south and will remove it next.
