Context:   226
Page:   0
Date:   2007/06/08
Stratum:   Inclusions: 30% large cobbles, 15% small pebbles, many small roots
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. Bottom slope of the context is level. The soil color is light reddish white. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   B 226 is the excavation of a small, oval patch o freddish soil sitting in the center of the area exposed by B 188. I think it may be a depression of soil since this is one of the lower points in the area. Nonetheless, Cleomenes found a clear divide from this layer to the soil around it. Although we can not see well if this cuts into the soil around, I am digging this first because it makes sense that it would cut into the other layer and it is significantly softer.
Unfortunately, it seems that this layer runs under the silty soil around it so we should have dug that first but we could not see a cut so there was little way to know. We will stop and dig the silty soil next.
