Stratum:   fine pebbles; 5%
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the E. The soil color is dark brownish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   Context 230 consists of two patches of topsoil overlaying the area of pebbles, which was left behind during cleaning. After removal of these two patches, it is clear the area of pebbles extends across the entire southeastern section of the excavation area. A few cobbles are scattered throughout, but the inclusions of the area consist mainly of pebbles.
When we returned to the field the next morning, we noticed a small lighter patch of soil west of the area of pebbles, which will most likely be dug as a context of its own. Its location can be seen on the top plan of context 231.
Note on Drawing: While drawing the top plan of context 232, we realize we did not have an accurate depiction of the extent of the concrete slabs on this top plan. During excavation of context 229, more of the concrete was revealed. We revised the drawing to reflect actual conditions.
