| Stratum: | The soil is a dark redish brown soft sandy silt. The inclusions are 10% poorly sorted with small, subrounded and angular pebbles. Small pottery sherds are present as well. | |
| Description: | Top slope of the context is slight down to the W. Bottom slope of the context is slight down to the WThe soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt. | |
| Notes: | Since the orange tree pit B21/B25 cuts this plow zone deposit, B24 is in two parts, one on the east side of the pit, one on the west. The western section lies between 266 E and 268.18 E. The eastern section lies between 269.75 E and 271 E. Billy excavated the western section first and then the eastern section. B24's western section comes down on soil very similar to the plow furrows (B22) but without the furrows. It also comes down on an area of darker soil within which lies the western irrigation pipe. A small amount of this new darker area was dug out before the workmen stopped excavating B24. The 1x5m S. extension of the excavation area was delineated and excavated to determine more of the extent of the orangish clay deposit (partially excavated w/ B26 found in the SW area of the excavation area under B2. The orangish clay deposit may be bounded on the N by a stone built wall running roughly E/W. | |
