Unlike the other 4 tree pits excavated previously in the north, the cut of this tree pit in the southern extension was recognized much earlier and the relationship between the cut and the plowzone (here, B24) was observed: the tree pit cuts the plowzone.
The cut is diffucult to trace at the bottom of the pit because of the deposit that the pit is cut into at the bottom - it is very loose and very disturbed by root action as well as the cutting and laying of the irrigation hose in this area (B31/32). But the cut can be traced by following the change in color from dark yellowish brown to very dark yellowish brown.
Cuts into dark reddish brown soft silty sand at the top of the cut and very dark yellowish brown soft sandy silt that is very disturbed by root action at the bottom of the cut.
