Title:   pedestal inside semi-circular structure (283)
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1101
Context:   288
Page:   0
Date:   2008/05/16
Stratum:   30% sub angular medium-large pebbles
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   The light yellowish brown silty sand was fairly soft, had quite a few pebbles, and had some clay mixed in.
This context more or less formed a pedestal for the semicircular structure 283. One of the stones from 283 went down into this context and we thus removed it with this context. Coin # is found in this deposit but should be associated with the floor beneath 280. It appears outside the context because of sweeping.
Several stones which were lower than the stones of 283 were taken out with this context.
The soil underneath the structure goes further than anticipated, beyond the limits of 283.
We seem to come down on the E-W robbing trench and expose more of it.
We take the clay-filled soil to the south of this context next.
