Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   Context 446 is located at the NW corner of the Nezi Field. It is bounded on the N and W by the boundaries of the field, on the E by context 443, and on the S by cut 272. We are excavating this context in order to investigate the deposits that have accumulated at this N point of the Nezi field and to reveal the darker brown soil that was revealed by context 443. Context 442 was directly above context 446 and it was arbitrarily ended (no change in color of soil or texture). Therefore context 442 is equal to context 446. Context 443 (just to the E) is equal to both 442 and 446. The removal of 443 revealed a darker brownsoil on the W section of the context and a reddish surface (possible floor) to the E of the context. Our goal in digging 446 is to investigate whether this darker brown soil continues toward the W. We stopped the excavation in this context temporarily. There is no soil change so we will not close the context yet. However, we decided to work at another part of the Nezi field (context 445) and go back to context 446 later.
