Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Context 469 is a hard, compact soil that fills the drain just N o the remains of wall 366. We are excavating this soil because it is one of the few strata that we understood in this area after cleaning 468 revealed a variety of mixed soils. This soil appears to sit on a softer, darker soil.
Panos took out the 'drain' fill. It consisted of a hard packed skin of soil. When it was scratched it revealed a softer soil. He followed that soil in the drain until he reached a harder soil. The same soil was also outside of the remains of the drain and therefore was taken out in the same context. The excavation at the S point of this context (running on the line of wall 366) revealed a harder surface. Panos suggested that this might have been the surface where the continuation of the wall at this point is missing but so far we have not been able to identify either a robbing trench or a foundation trench.
After finishing the excavation of this context Panos noted that what we had identified as a drain is actually a wall. The reason for this is that this structure seems to have an outside face whereas drains have inside faces. From this wall it is preserved only a part of its E side and only one stone from its W side. In the middle there are smaller stones. Because of this identification we decided not to remove the wall.
