Stratum:   5% inclusions. A soft dark brownish red sandy silt, moderately sorted. Only two small sherds.
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the S. Bottom slope of the context is slight down to the SThe soil color is dark brownish red. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This soil is the red soil that lies in the center of the ashier soil around it. We are excavating the red soil and think it is pit fill. We came down on a blacker soil just below which we are excavating as a separate context (B 5042).
[Later note: this is not a pit, it is not filling a definite space with cuts like I'd expect for a pit.]
