Description:   Top slope of the context is level. Bottom slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark brownish black. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Materials: Worked stones, field stones, cobbles, tiles, pottery shards, 1 road pavement stone.
Size of materials: Avg. size: Worked stones: 0.35x0.35x0.17. Cobbles: 0.20x0.08x0.06. Field stones: 0.14x0.09x0.06. Tiles: 0.09x0.14x0.02. Road pavement stone: 0.51x0.36x0.17.
Finish of stones: A mix of rought and squared.
Coursing: Random coursed.
Form: Wall.
Direction of faces: N and S.
Bonding material: Mud.
Dimensions of masonry as found: 2.85x0.35x2.95x0.65. Height max: 0.86. Height min: 0.48.
The wall contained a large amount of soil used as binding material. Also it is worthy to note what one worker told me: "About two decades ago they were doing work here in the area and all the large stones that were fallen on the ground they would pick them up and place them on the top courses of the walls." In wall 24 (NB228) the upper most course was constructed of the same large worked stones that were not binded together. It is therefore possible that this upper course was placed there by the workers twenty years ago. It is also important to note that wall 24 (NB228) did not bind with wall 22 (NB228) to the W.
The soil that was used to bind the wall contained very few (2%) small pebble inclusions.
