Stratum:   50 % inclusions with angular tabular cobbles, roof tiles, pot sherds.
Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is dark yellowish grey. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We dug the second level of this pit, trying to determine its us, whether it was a robbing pit, a storage pit, or a well.
A clear cange in amount of inclusions indicates a break from last layer and an earlier date for this fill. There were 159 roof tiles weighing 41.5kg.
We had to stop at the level we did because 1) Our digger came down upon a hollow covered with pot sherds which appeared to him to be an earlier pit which this context cut. 2) the pit walls were too steep to allow access any longer.
The pit fill was softer and finer than the hard red soil that made up the walls of the pit. The animal bones were unweathered and without signs of burning. Together the evidence points to a product of one episode of dumped destruction degree. The coin was found outside the 2nd pit, though there was some thought that it belonged to it and could constitute a hoard.
