Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greyish yellow. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clay.
Notes:   We are excavating context 5170, a deposit in the southeast part of our area, beside the wall to our east (Wall 5218) and the scarp to the south. The soil is a grayish yellow clay mixed with brown soil. The clay is fairly stubborn and hard to break. The soil has few intrusions; medium stones which are round and spherical, but not exclusively. We reached the general deposit of brown soil similar to that found throughout our area.
Once the clay surface was removed, the tile pile/pit seems to continue underneaht it.
This whitish marl seems as if it could be associated with a floor surface of the 12th and 13th centuries.
See also context 5168, probably the same surface.
