Context:   5209

Date:   2008/04/14
Stratum:   5% bits of pottery, bits of carbon, little shell, stones angular aspherical
Description:   Top slope of the context is moderate down to the NE. The soil color is light greyish yellow. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   We are exploring the clay floor and subfloor levels--this area looked different to our pickman, having fewer inclusions and laid on a hard crust layer. 5209 has little material in it and came down on a subfloor level with more inclusions (5301 and 5322). Due to lack of evidence we cannot definitely state anything other than that this is a part of a floor or subfloor layer, perhaps a repair? The next step in this area should be to remove all relavant contexts overlying the hard crust layer revealed by the removal of 5209.
