| Description: | Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is mixed. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt. | |
| Notes: | This level was mixed in terms of its colors. We saw yellowish and brownish red soil all in one deposit. This level was below a thin red soil layer, which was part of this deposit. The mixing is probably a result of roots in the martyr, which complicate the soil color. In addition, we found shell, bone, a small amphora bottom, and pottery. This level was below the drain. We are not sure how to interpret this. The deposit was level and the same shape as the drain, so it probably relates to the drain in some way, but we are not sure precisely what the relationship was because this is a fill. This layer was on top of a yellowish-brown soil and a brown ring of soil (5241, 5253). In addition, 5233 was on top of our second red level (5247) and a mixed fill (5252). | |
