| Description: | Top slope of the context is steap down to the W. The soil color is mixed. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is sandy silt. | |
| Notes: | This cleaning context marks our move to the space north of the room we have been digging in up to now (Room E). The new space is surrounded by W26 to the south, W21 to the west, W28 to the north, and W16 to the east. The very SE corner is much higher than the rest of the area. About a meter to the west is an out of place threshold block that has blocked some of the runoff from the upper corner. It has been removed (L: 0.50, W: 0.44, H: 0.25). The soil in this context is mixed: some is light yellowish green and some is dark reddish brown. Contexts revealed by cleaning and immediately visible are as follows: west of the mound is a rectangular, high patch of soil w/ a vertical west face. Going westward, the soil is dark brown, then lighter with stone inclusions, then a slightly elevated level with cobbles and large tiles visible. The sharp vertical face of the rectangular patch in the NE suggests that a trench was dug in this "corridor" in 1961, exposing the areas between W26 and W28. | |
