Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. The soil color is dark greenish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Originally, we excavated this context as though it were a foundation trench. The reason for this was the presence of what we thought to be a foundation trench running along Wall 5394. The darkened soil that appeared alongside the wall proves actually to be bioturbation due to the presence of a large tree root alongside the wall. The foundation trench was no longer visible once that deposit of dark, loose soil was removed. If the deposit of artifacts removed from this context represents a use level, it is probably a use level that considerably postdates the original construction of the wall. This contradicts our original expectation upon excavating the context, since we thought that the "foundation trench" cut the exposed surface, which would have previously made it earlier than the wall.
