Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven. The soil color is light brownish grey. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   Context 5469 was a thin layer of ash extending along the S half under 5428 (large fill deposit). Its boundaries to the W and NW were rather diffuse, but it appears to stop at the edge of our circular cut for the pithos to the N and at arbitrary points to the E. It is bounded to the S by Wall 58.
Upon digging this context, it was observed that the soil, though identifiable by its mostly gray color and fine consistency, was often interrupted by pockets of darker soil (from charcoal), white (marl), and red. As this is similar to the floor underneath, it is likely that this context is slightly mixed with the layer underneath. This was noticeable to the E, most likely due to the tree root which had broken up the soil in this area. This context was highly variable in depth as well, supporting the idea that it is trashy accumulation on top of a floor.
Pit 5480/5486 cut into the N edge of this context, although it was unclear this was a pit at the time.
