Category:   Cut
Notebook:   1101
Context:   5470
Page:   0
Date:   2008/05/17
Description:   The context shape in plan is circular. The top break of the cut is gradual. The sides of the cut are concave. The break at the base of the cut is not perceptible. The base of the cut is concave. Truncation: none.
Notes:   This cut's location is similar to previous cuts in the area, 5198 and 5200 in that they all are shallow and they are all in the SW corner close to Wall 58 and the N-S wall in the W. What is interestins is that 5470 has a sharp boundary and was full of ash. The base of the cut has some flat lying roof tiles. The floor that 5470 cuts is a hard surface that was uncovered by 5428, when the fill for 5470 (5467) was revealed.
After reviewing these later cut contexts (5198 and 5200), one difference between the possible use of these pits is that 5198 and 5200 were filled with destruction debris and 5470 was filled with ash. Due to 5428 being a deep context of debris fill, it is difficult to call the ash leveling fill since there is no floor which overlies it.
