Notes:   Finds: marble hand
We took a light cleaning pass above the robbed-out section of Wall 58 (5662) prior to excavating, because it had been exposed for some time and had had considerable foot traffic since the beginning of the 2008 season. The marble hand removed as part of this context had been exposed for some time prior to its removal, and the cleaning of this soil matrix resulted in its resting on top. The hand is truncated at the fingers, but is holding a bundle of sticks, perhaps a fasces or torch. It is also truncated at the wrist.
This pass included part of the robbed-out top of Wall 58 (5662), as well as a 0.40 m strip to the W of it.
