| Notes: | The eastern block of this structure is a threshold block (0.18 x 0.11 x 0.10) with a rectangular cutting (0.05 x 0.10 x 0.03) for door workings. The other three blocks are in association with this later phase of wall 5631. This appears to be the latest extant threshold in a series of thresholds in wall 5631. We do not have the floor associated with this threshold because the dirt was already below this level at the start of our season. Removal of the threshold revealed another threshold immediately below it, in wall 5636 with a rectangular cutting. Masonry style is indeterminate because only 4 blocks are preserved. Additional note, 05/04/09: The first time that this threshold was drawn and excavated (in 2008), one large block was removed; however, the actual remaining block remained in situ. We excavated the remainder of the threshold and used the same context number for the material that we uncovered. When we had finished removing the stones of 5647, we revealed the top of 5670- the second-highest threshold in this series. 5-18-09: MH, SL; Threshold 5647 used wall 5631 as its foundation | |
