Stratum:   20%: small cobbles, subrounded and subangular; tiles; ceramics
Description:   Top slope of the context is gradual down to the W. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context is important because it may reveal whether or not we have the top of Cut 5721, the foundation trench for wall 5725. We expect that the removal of this top layer of fill will reveal the edge, and if it does, we will know which layer on the N side of Wall 5725 is cut for the wall's foundation.
However, upon removing the top few centimeters of the exposed context, we did not encounter a cut edge. But the same tiled layer from the bottom of 5711 is visible to the W, in the section. This means a number of possible relationships may exist beween these soils:
1) The layer to the E was cut as a foundation trench, and that cut was later truncated and filled with dumped fill. At some point, a uniform cut did exist.
2) The cobbled layer exposed from 5604's removal goes all the way to the wall, and consequently there was no foundation trench of any great depth near that bit of wall section.
OR
3) We find the cut. It is slightly truncated, possibly from excavating context 5604, foundations filling foundation trench cut no. 5732.
Finding the cut means that we have a foundation filling event that appears to be the same as what we observed in the case of foundation cut number 5720 for wall 5724 (i.e., N-S running "Wall 4"): a soft fill that stops before the bottom of the cut, turning into something more compacted. WE may have missed the differentiatino when we excavated Context 5580, fill of cut 5718- foundation trench of 5724.
