Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light pinkish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Deposit context 588 is a light pinkish brown lens of dumped fill. Deposit 588 sits west of the drain 426 and extends ca. 1.8 m to the west. The deposit 588 lays atop a robbed portion of the drain, we are removing this deposit in order to further explore this feature. The removal of the context 588 revealed a soil change in alignment with the line of the drain; the is a blonder soil outside and greyer deposit within.
In respect to the drain:
Kostas moved over to the robbing trench 457 in order to investigate the relationship between the portions of the drain that extend northward and southward from wall 366. He scraped back the robbing trench wall in order to look for the truncated drain, there is no evidence of the drain in the scarp of the robbing trench aside from one stone, though the fill within the putative path of the drain and without are the same. There is also no evidence for the path of the drain in the exposed portions of the pithos/well 346.
Before excavating the deposit context 588 we sprayed the area around the drain to better see the color changes in the wet dirt. This showed that the fill of the drain is grayish in color and the soil east of the drain is blackish brown, and the soil west of the drain is dark red.
