Corinth Basket: Nezi Field, context 6047 Collection: | | Corinth | Type: | | Basket | Name: | | Nezi Field, context 6047 | Area: | | Nezi Field | Context Type: | | Fill | Title: | | Robbing trench fill | | | Accumulated fill | Category: | | Deposit | Notebook: | | 1103 | | | 1104 | Context: | | 6047 | Page: | | 0 | Date: | | 2009/04/09 | | | 2010/06/01 | Stratum: | | Sandy silt with 40% inclusions (rounded small through coarse pebbles, tabular and platy angular cobbbles and boulders, tiles, ceramics) | Description: | | The soil color is light yellowish grey. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt. | | | Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. The soil color is reddish brown. The soil compaction is hard. | Notes: | | We are excavating a soil lense revealed by the excavation of threshhold 5919 and associated walls (=10077, 10076). Removal of the top layer of the lense (=deposit 6040) revealed that a uniform soil lense with visible stratified deposits had been cut by a deposit with an entirely different soil composition (=deposit 6047). A wall stump is visible on the E, protruding in an E-W orientation below N-S 10085/10078, the E boundary of the room, and we think the stump belongs to the wall to which robbing trench 6048 granted access. Removal of deposit 6047 revealed a deposit of a different soil composition (=deposit 6049) filling the same cut. | Context Pottery: | | Coarseware. pitcher. 1 handle. ; Cooking ware. collar rim stew pot (1000-1100)3 bodysherds. ; Coarseware. amphora. 1 handle. ; Fineware. premedieval7 bodysherds. ; Fineware. slipped plain glazed (1100-1300), chafing dish. 1 bodysherd. ; Fineware. ww plain (700-1120)1 bodysherd. ; Coarseware. jar. 1 rim. | Pottery Summary: | | 9 frag(s) 0.05 kg.
