Stratum: | Ceramic sherds (mainly tile); stones (small-medium pebbles; mostly angular; spherical to tabular); bone
Description: | Top slope of the context is moderate down to the W. The soil color is light yellowish white. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes: | Context 6134 is another possible leveling fill in room northwest of courtyard of Byzantine house. Revealed by removal of context 6125. Excavated as part of attempt to get this room down to Byzantine levels. Soil is light yellowish white clayey silt with approximately 10% inclusions (ceramic sherds, stones, bone). Whitish soil is good indicator that this fill is still part of Frankish levels. Removal of context 6134 revealed further reddish surfaces of compact earth. Seems this part of room had series of small leveling fills built up around well 5876. Dating thse various fills will hopefully provide indications of construction history in this area. One large bone fragment recovered. Surface revealed by removal of context 6134 has large fragments of tile visible. Context 6134 abutted up against structure 6130. Context 6134 occupies north part of room east of pithos fill (6115) and a portion further south just west of well. Removal of southern section of context also revealed surface of compact red soil. This revealed surface also had fragments of tile present.
