Description:   The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Context 6155 is a pit along the northern edge of wall 5725 in room nw of courtyard of Byz. House. This context was distinguished by its blacker color and soft compaction.
At this moment it is hypothesized that context 6155 might be a continuation of 1960s bothros of room west of courtyard of Byz. House (Bothros 9, NB235).
This context is being excavated to determine the sequence of wall 5725 with the rooms on either side. If context 6155 is a continuation of the northern pit, we hope to find a foundation trench for wall 5725 and confirm its later construction date.
On the northern side of this pit were found tiles embedded in the scarp, making it seem likely that this was part of a tile-built pithos, cut by wall 5725.
Since wall 5725 is not on the permit to be removed, we have shifted our focus to the room to the south; ie the room west of the courtyard of the Byz. House.
