Description:   Top slope of the context is moderate down to the SW. The soil color is dark brownish yellow. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   N.B. Context number 6491 was skipped in 2009. For consistency, the number is being used during the 2010 season.
Context 6491 is located in the eastern half of the room north of the courtyard of the Byzantine house. It abuts the southwest junction of walls 6526 and 6016. Context 6491 has a moderate slope down to the sw giving it the appearance of a ramp. Its position against the two walls could suggest its function was to faciltate dumping material around these walls.
The soil is dark brownish yellow clayey silt with 20% inclusions (tile, bone, pottery, stones).
The removal of context 6491 revealed more of a surface which first came to light with the removal of context 6516.
